Assistance for Work Stress

Do you feel overwhelmed with your work situation?  Are you tired of working at home, or having trouble getting back to an in-person work environment?  Does communicating with a manager, customer, or a colleague seem unbearable, or not inline with your preferred management style and core values?  Are you having trouble moving forward with your career dreams, because of past failures?

What causes work stress?

Feelings of stress, anxiety or overwhelm about work, have different causes and each person and situation is unique. Sometimes burn out is the cause and it is a matter of not enough time off or self care.  There may be a personality clash or a management style which does not mirror a person’s own values, and their sense of meaning and purpose. Or fear and lack of confidence may be caused by past difficult work experiences, such as traumas, failures, and losses. Or the root may be from other relationships, such as family.

How can I help you manage work stress?

With a safe, nonjudgmental listening approach such as Traumatic Incident Reduction and Life Stress Reduction, past difficulties or traumas can be discharged and resolved one at a time related to work and relationships, and your current abilities and confidence enhanced. This may involve assistance moving past limiting belief systems, having more confidence, productivity and career success, and more satisfaction in life.

Alternatively, more evaluative and teaching approaches can be helpful such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and The Gottman Approach all which can help you learn how to calm the body and mind, emotional intelligence, anger management, and communication skills.
Having the ability to calm the nervous system, and racing thoughts, and return to a peaceful centre through mindfulness, meditation and relaxation techniques can be very valuable, and can be taught in session and practiced at home or at work.
